A Danish self-taught artist, Adi has been a resident of Thailand for 20 years. She works with acrylic paints, fabrics, found and ready-made objects that make statements about present day consumer society. Pairing objects from markets in Thailand with items from her own use, and using fabrics as a main component, she juxtaposes diverse words, numbers, remnants, stickers and other such disposable trivia in a seemingly randon manner.
Her inventive three-dimensional works are both poetic in feeling and ambiguous in meaning. Quizzical and at times obscure, her mixed media paintings have an idiosyncratic style that remains fresh and ultimately her own.
Adi has presented her work in a number of exhibitions over the past 4 years, including a joint exhibition at Rotunda Gallery, Neilson Hays Library named ’Serendipity’ April - May 2004, a first solo exhibition, named ’Bedlam’, January – February 2005, at H.Gallery, and a group exhibition ’Farang, Farang’ at La Luna Gallery, Chiang Mai in February 2006. Adi’s installation exhibition at Bed Supperclub later in 2006 was the talk of the town. In 2007 her ’Bubbly’ solo show, presented by Teo & Namfah Gallery continued to showcase her constantly expanding and developing appreciation for things Thai, and her ability to mix painting styles and ’found objects’ to create whimsical and beautiful thought-provoking artworks.
