Siriwan was born in Petchaboon in 1976 and is a graduate of the College of Fine Arts in Bangkok. She now lives and works in Chiang Mai together with her partner Suphachet who is best known for his elephant paintings.
She recalls that she has been interested in painting since she was very young, and sees it as a way to represent her own discovery of the world around her. She says, ”When I was a child I would like to see the world, just like Thumbelina in the fairytale, which is my favourite. Thumbelina has traveled, but not reached her destination and she will keep on discovering the world.
For the ’Essence of Self’ Exhibition, Siriwan reaches into another unknown realm – the night sky. Through her paintings she expresses her awe at the moon revealing her glow over and holding all things in her grip. She regrets that not even once was she able to sufficiently displace herself to join the moon above and drift beyond. Siriwan looks up, and there she and the moon meet in the evenings, late at night, at dawn, and even in the afternoon!
